1. Cool Down

Once the hard work is over it can be all too tempting to hit the showers and call it a day but don’t forget one of the most important part of your post-workout recovery, the cool down. Make sure to take the adequate time to let your heart rate return to its normal rhythm and stretch out those muscles to avoid stiffness and risk of injury.

2. Re-hydrate

Once your workout is over, you’ve likely broken a sweat. Don’t forget to replenish your body of the most essential nutrient, water. If you broke an extra hard sweat be sure to add in those electrolytes by choosing all natural coconut water.

3. Refuel

In order to gain the most from your workout, you want to be sure to refuel your body with the necessary nutrients to help build that muscle and endurance. Be sure to choose a post-workout snack or meal that includes a good source of protein as well as carbohydrate such as non-dairy yogurt with berries or a sweet potato with chicken.

4. Get Plenty of Z’s

Never underestimate the power of good sleep, this is the time your muscles will repair themselves to help them

become stronger for your next workout. Besides, adequate rest will also ensure enough energy to stick with your gym routine.

5. Take a rest day

Doing too much too frequently can set you back. Be sure to allow for adequate rest days in between workouts, especially if muscle soreness is present. Instead of hitting the weights, opt for a light walk or hop on the bike for some recovery exercise.
